I wear a few hats... Newborn Photographer, Family Portrait Photographer & a Wedding Photographer,I just love it all...but me! I'm Nykie Grove-Eades... or, Nykie, Nyk or Noo. Whatever goes. And yes, technically it is pronounced "Nike", but I prefer good old "Nicky" or "Nic".

HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN DOING THIS PHOTOGRAPHY LARK? I have been into photography just about all my life. Yes, I had a camera as a kid, and had a darkroom as a teenager... but none of that really matters. It's actually YOU that matters. If you like my images then you are in the right place. I hope you can see something in my style that appeals to you. If you look through my galleries and "hang" on any of them and gaze then awesome! We are a match!

Professionally I have been around for coming up two years. Mistral officially started in September 2009.

WHAT'S MY STYLE? Photography to me, can be serious and artful, or fun & playful. I like people! I like fleeting expressions and looks, especially from wee ones. I also like lines and colour and shape that all come together to make something that feels like art. But it also has to be REAL. A real expression, moment in time, a feeling you get from it.

MORE ABOUT ME? I am a proud mum of two little peoples, Miah and Andrew. I have a fabulous hubby Nigel who is a builder. We are a humble and happy lot. Life's good!... Before kids were on the scene I was a Motion Graphics Artist. The world of television however I have left behind because the hours are too taxing with a young family. I am short, brunette and like to laugh loudly and dance like a crazy person. I drink beer rather than wine, and prefer good dark chocolate to milk chocolate. Mostly I just like simple things like the feeling of my daughters chubby little hand in mine. I don't aspire to own lots of "things", they just take up too much space.

WHY MISTRAL? The name Mistral is the name of my childhood home. We didn't have a house number in the earlier years!, Just a name!. The word Mistral fills me with childhood memory-goodness.  "The Mistral" is also northerly breeze in France that brings clear and sunny weather.

WHATS NEXT FOR ME? I just want to keep getting better and better.
My goal is to keep improving forever!

In 2010 I achieved my NZIPP Portrait Qualification.

In 2011 I gained two Bronze Awards at the prestigious Iris Awards.
As well as a Silver Merit in the Kodak Awards! I was stoked!

In 2012 I plan to keep honing my skills and developing more as a photographer and person.

I really love the idea of people having beautiful artwork on their walls that I made, and I want it to be truly awesome!

"Nykie is AMAZING! She was recommended to me and I will continue to recommend her to everyone. She photographed me (& my hubby & dog) when I was 35 weeks pregnant, then took photos of the family and my newborn son when he was two weeks old. Nykie was full of fab ideas,  and she got some beauties. All the photos were just gorgeous and admired by everyone. They're all over the house too :) Not only is Nykie incredibly talented, she is also such a lovely, warm person who we could completely relax around. As I've said many times now, thanks a million - you're great." - Michela Enna
